The League of Courageous Women is celebrating women in leadership with a luncheon on Saturday, March 3rd hosted by The Arlington Naples from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm. Dr. Kamela Patton, who was recently named Florida’s Superintendent of the Year, will be the featured keynote speaker, discussing why it is so critical for girls to set courageous goals, build a solid network of supporters, and develop productive mentor relationships. In the League’s mission to inspire, connect, and advance the next generation of young women as leaders, this luncheon is open to middle and high school girls, as well as women with the shared interest of leadership. The cost of the luncheon is $25 for adults and $10 for students.

Dr. Kamela Patton is in her seventh year as Superintendent of Collier County Public Schools (CCPS), where she has enhanced existing programs, instituted new technological tools, improved internal and external communications, and initiated innovative programs that increase student achievement. Under Dr. Patton’s direction, CCPS has improved its ranking to 5th in the State from 33rd. During her tenure, students have increased performance on state tests as evidenced by an increase in the percentage of students exceeding the state average to 91% from 30% between 2011 to 2017. Over the past six years, Dr. Patton has received a number of awards including her most recent recognition as Florida’s Superintendent of the Year.
